The institute trains specialists in the field of applied informatics, information systems and security. The Institute of Information Technologies and Mechanical Engineering (formerly the Faculty of Mechanics) was founded in March 1938. The institute trains specialists in the field of applied computer science and also conducts general engineering training for students of all specialties of the university. The institute has 7 departments: the Department of Automation of Production Processes the Department of Mechanical Engineering the Department of Information Technologies the Department of Information Systems and Computer Design the Department of Materials Resistance the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics the Department of Intelligent Systems and Information Protection, 2 research laboratories, and 2 centers of additional educational services and specialized new information technology center. The training of bachelors and masters is provided by a highly qualified teaching staff. Training is conducted in full-time and part-time forms, in addition there are training programs with a shorter training period based on specialized secondary vocational education. Postgraduate and doctoral studies in 5 scientific specialties were opened.
